Rapid Learning Centre, Male’, signs MOU with Sedaya International College, Malaysia The Sedaya International College (SIC), (which has been invited to set up a University in Malaysia) was in Male’ from the 15th June 2003 – 18th June 2003 for a collaborative effort. They have signed a MOU with Rapid Learning Centre on 16th June 2003, to provide quality education at foundation, diploma and later degree level programs in Male’, Maldives. SIC with 17 years of experience in providing excellent tertiary education has a total of more then 600 international students (27% of the total enrolment). They currently have about 15 Maldivian students pursuing various degree programs at the SIC main campus in Kuala Lumpur. The Senior Executives from the SIC, International Operations Department stated that they are expanding their international operations and focussing mainly on Islamic countries. This is due to the fact that Malaysia offers a conducive environment for students from Islamic States to pursue their education. SIC has identified and established local franchise partners in most of the Islamic countries, e.g. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Oman to name a few. They are confident that Rapid learning Centre is their ideal local partner to provide SIC’s franchise programs for Maldivians who want to pursue their foundation studies and part of their tertiary education in Male’. The SIC officers also met the Minister of Human Resources, Employment and Labour to brief him on the programs that can be offered to the Maldives public sector and interested individuals. Further, SIC has expressed their support to train the Maldivian Government sponsored students and staff by offering scholarship in the form of, full and partial tuition fee. SIC is prepared to train the Maldivians in Skills and Competency to meet the human resource requirements of Maldives.
